In reply to CatseyesQQ. ok, i have a chicken that is... old. she has no feathers on her back, and i picked her up tod ay, FREEZING! she was shivering, her feet were ice, i needed to do somthing or id loose her. we have owles all over, but not hawks, i am always home, and out at my chickens. we allways have very cold winters here. if i dont at east try to keep her warm id loose another chicken!

What about chickens who molt in the winter. It’s 10° outside and my favorite Easter egger has lost most of her feathers. She is obviously uncomfortable and a nice wool knit would help give her some much needed insulation. Sometimes ingenuity trumps the rules. Grow up and stop berating people with your crass remarks.
