Easy DIY Cat Tent

diy-cozy-cat-tent

I found a cute idea for cat lovers: how to make a cat tent for your sweet kitty. All you need is a piece of cardboard, a canvas with a pattern you like (or you can ask the cat if she/he likes it 😀 ) and a soft material, a sponge or cotton. After you have all these things you can make a beautiful and original tent for your cat.

      • or sew buttons on one side and button holes on other side, or pressure buttons (you know the metal buttons on babie’s pijama that we press together to close the bottom part of it?), or sew button holes on each side and use a lace.

Thank you for such a wonderful idea. I had bought a small little tent from the dollar store but this makes it so much more personal and effective to use our own materials. Great fun. My weekend project as I have to make 5 of them.

    Great

    Thanks

    • For cleaning the material, I would sew a zipper on one side of every piece to be able to remove the material. For the hole I would unsew, wash the material and sew around the hole again when putting the material on place. But, if you don’t like the idea of sewing each time you want to wash the tent, you could use pressure buttons (you know the metal buttons on babie’s pijama that we press together to close the bottom part of it?), or velcro (but I believe it would not look nice), or make button holes and a lace around the hole, or make button holes on one side and buttons on the other side.
Any better idea? Let me know,.

You can spray varathane on all your outside and inside pieces, except the bottom pillow which you could put a zipper on the cover and wash, then all you have to do is wipe them off every so often, and the material stays looking new…..

  • Cover the triangles with oil cloth which will wipe wipe clean with disinfectant. As for the cushion, sew in a zipper in order for it to be removed for washing.

  • I would make it with one inch foam. Would leave half inch seam on all triangle sides then sew inside out then turn it back right side. I have a lot of foam tents for my 3 cats which I wash in my tub and let dry outside. Love this idea, Thanks for sharing!
