Decorating the home will involve at some point, working with your walls. In one way or another, you are bound to eventually feel the urge to paint them. But most of the times, (re)designing or (re)painting walls have a more permanent impact than paintings do. So, before you change the look and feeling of your home in a semi-permanent manner, try the relatively temporary and simpler way. Grab these items:

• a couple of brushes (thin and thick);
• a piece of paper;
• a board of canvas;
• a twig of leaves;
• a small bowl;
• a bottle of acrylic paint;
• a can of spray paint;
• a can of spray adhesive;

The steps are quite easy and will definitely take you back to arts & crafts classes from school. Begin with painting the canvas in the color you like the final leaves (or plant) to appear. Use the bowl, thick brush and acrylic to cover the whole surface with this color. You could place the twig over a piece of paper and spray some adhesive over it. So when you put it on the canvas and apply the spray paint on the whole piece, it won’t slide away. Remove the leaves when you’re done. Let the canvas dry and take a thin brush to make some details or shadows on the pattern obtained. Do a couple or four of this paintings and decorate your wall in a nice way.

DIY Paper Roll Bunny https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-paper-roll-bunny/ https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-paper-roll-bunny/#comments Sun, 02 Mar 2014 21:59:02 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=15101 DIY-paper-roll-bunny

If you lack ideas on what to use for decorating your home for this year’s Easter celebrations, you are in luck. Because we found this cute and simple project that we would like to share with you. So, don’t just gaze into your computer screen and get to work! Don’t worry though, it’s quite an easy job to make this little display of toilet paper roll of bunnies. You just need the following:

• a couple of toilet paper rolls;
• some craft glue dots;
• three different color acrylic paints;
• a couple of paint brushes;
• some Googly eyes;
• a black marker or pen;
• a white gel pen;
• three cotton balls;

Cut half an inch of toilet paper roll strips out of the rolls. You could use a separate roll just for this step. Remember to make 2 strips for each bunny. Afterwards, apply 2 coats of different paint on each of the rolls and strips. Let them dry for a while. Then, take the strips and turn them into proper ears by gluing them to the inside of the appropriate color roll, with the help of the glue dots. Use the photo as guideline. Next, attach Googly eyes with the glue dots. Take the marker and draw the nose, whiskers and mouth of your bunny. Use the white pen to fill in the teeth. Finally, stick on the tail (cotton ball) onto the back side of your DIY bunny.

Natural Room Scents https://goodshomedesign.com/natural-room-scents/ https://goodshomedesign.com/natural-room-scents/#respond Sat, 14 Dec 2013 01:56:19 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=13981 natural-scent

The lengths people go for achieving uniqueness to their homes is incredible. Challenges nowadays aren’t that of making some bold design concept or an intriguing decoration, but creating an own natural scent for the room. The steps are quite easy in this regard. It only takes a few jars and in no time, you will have a powerful scent centerpiece you can use in your house or gift it away. Here is what you need to do and have:

• a bunch of fruit;
• mason jars;
• water;
• candles;
• a fridge;

Add all of the ingredients you want your centerpiece to include – fruits, herbs, spices – into a Mason jar and fill it with water, leaving some empty space of at least ¾ inches at the top. Do this for as many jars you want to have. Close the lid and place in fridge or freezer for 1 to 2 weeks. Remember to choose freezer-safe jars so they won’t crack or damage.

Once this step is completed, remove the lid and add ribbon, a gift tag or any other embellishment you think gives your centerpieces a nice look. A floating candle on top creates a nice romantic atmosphere, not to mention the scent of apple, cinnamon, or lemon is instantly released into the room. What a delight!
