A few days ago, a man from Germany, Torben Jung, shared on Facebook his summer project. A great pallet swimming pool, which became in short time viral on the worldwide websites. So, are you dreaming about having your own pool at home and spending some relaxing moments in it? Well, with the help of this next DIY project this dream can become reality and you will never again have to go to public pools in the summer. This pool project is so great, because you won’t be investing a lot of money in the making of the pool as you can use materials you already have at home. We are talking about old pallets that you have in your home from a previous project. Even if you don’t have a few pallets at home you can always ask a crafty friend to give you some. To make this cool pool you will need 10 pallets and your entire investment will be less than $80. According to Jung, this whole project cost him only 70 euros, which isn’t too bad for a whole pool.

Pallets are always advertised, on the web and especially in the DIY community, as an almost miracle solution to any type of project that will improve your interior design and garden or yard decor. Now, we’re about to show you how you can use wood pallets to build your very own pontoon raft! Besides it’s cheaper than a boat, you can get your friends into the whole building process, so all of you could have fun both before and after finishing it.

In the photo tutorial you will see clearly the raft is being put together, step by step. You start by making the outline with pieces of 2 by 4 wood planks. Then, it’s time for fitting all the pallets together and reinforcing the part for standing afterwards. We should mention that in order to complete this DIY project, you will need a bunch of plastic barrels which provide the buoyancy every pontoon needs. The pontoon is not that hard to make and as easy to disassemble and transport. Follow the tutorial provided and you can get a similar fun result! You can even add a simple tent to provide a well-deserved shade on those sunny days.

Turn Old Pallets Into A Chicken Coop https://goodshomedesign.com/turn-old-pallets-into-a-chicken-coop/ https://goodshomedesign.com/turn-old-pallets-into-a-chicken-coop/#comments Mon, 05 Jan 2015 03:32:57 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=24287 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Making a chicken house by using recycled building materials is a handy and recommended technique. The workload isn’t very different from a conventional structure, but you will save plenty of money on the materials. Check out this project from Lone Grove, Oklahoma, which used 3 wood pallets together in order to make a 42 by 126 inches floor. Follow the instructions from the tutorial and you should have no problems building a similar structure. Now, your chickens have a brand new home with little money and you can focus on something else in your household.

“Bought 4 sheets of 1/2 inch CDX plywood from McCoy’s @ $10.99 sheet, working now to get the sides covered.   I’m pretty much cutting the 4X8 sheets of plywood in half, making 4 ft by 4 ft squares. This view is of the nesting area.” By Butch Bridges

Pallet Wall Projects https://goodshomedesign.com/pallet-wall-projects/ https://goodshomedesign.com/pallet-wall-projects/#comments Mon, 01 Sep 2014 20:55:56 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=19804 pallet-wall-project-7

When it comes to redesigning your home, repainting the walls is an important step. You can choose to be bold and use strong colors or a patterned wallpaper, but there is something even better than these two ideas. You can create a unique wall out of pieces of wood or old pallets. The great part is, that this way you won’t even need to invest into other expensive decoration items, as the wall itself will give the room a whole new look. You can leave the pallets the way they are and install them on the wall, or paint them. The natural color of the pallets will create an elegant atmosphere, but if you want a more fresh and youthful look, simply paint the pallets in several colors and make a colorful wall. This will go well in a child’s room, but even in a more contemporary and modern apartment. Take a look around your rooms and find a wall that needs this cool upgrading to start your very own pallet wall project.
