Firefighters are risking their own life to save ours. And there are not only humans they’re helping, but animals as well. And while we are so grateful for their great job, we can’t say the same for some animals they’ve rescued.

While trapped on a roof, Jessie, a Macaw parrot did’t have the best opinion about the rescue team sent to rescue her. And she expressed her thoughts by using some words just as colorful as its plumage is.

Watch Manager Chris Swallow, who was at the scene, said: “Jessie had been on the same roof for three days and there were concerns that she may be injured which is why she hadn’t come down.

“Our crew manager was the willing volunteer who went up the ladder to try and bring Jessie down. We were told that to bond with the parrot, you have to tell her ‘I love you’, which is exactly what the crew manager did.

“While Jessie responded ‘I love you’ back, we then discovered that she had a bit of a foul mouth and kept swearing, much to our amusement. Jessie also speaks Turkish and Greek, so we tried telling her to ‘come’ in both those languages too.

“Thankfully it soon became apparent that Jessie was fine and uninjured as she flew off to another roof and then to a tree.

“As with this incident, the RSPCA should be contacted in the first instance and we would always urge people to do the same if they see an animal stuck or in distress. If the RSPCA require our assistance, they will call us and we are happy to assist with our specialist equipment.”

The underwater world is so diverse and there are so many fascinating creatures living in deep waters, that we still don’t know much about. Deep-see photographs and videos are always captivating and you never know what you’ll stumble upon.
These very rare images were taken by a Finnish photographer, named Kristian Laine and have caught the attention even of marine biologists. Laine managed to take a picture of the world’s only known pink manta ray and since he is such a rare and mysterious sighting, he received the name Inspector Clueso.
This pink manta lives close to Lady Elliot Island, in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and he was first observed in 2015 by a diver. Marine biologists estimate that Inspector Clueso weighs about 2 tonnes and has a wingspan of 7 meters. Laine explained that his photography is among the rarest images ever of Inspector Clueso as there have been only about 10 sightings of the manta ray since that first one in 2015.
The amazing fact is that the photographer managed to get as close as one meter to the ray and the whole experience lasted around 30 minutes. The pictures speak for themselves and the majesty of this unique creature is undeniable.

A hilarious incident happened in Lake Worth Beach, Florida where a parrot’s screams confused both police and the neighbors. In a quiet neighborhood, while changing the brakes on his wife’s car, a man had taken his 40-year-old parrot outside with him.

Rambo, the parrot is a bird with a special personality, as he likes to sing and talk. After a while, the police appeared in a rush and said that they have been alerted by the neighbors, who heard a woman crying for help.
After a bit of confusing, it turned out that it was the screams and singing of the parrot, that were heard by the neighbors and confronted with the situation, even the policeman burst into laughter.
Later, the Rambo was introduced to the neighbors too and everyone laughed about the incident. Since Rambo sometimes likes to scream “help, help, let me out” it is no surprise that the neighbors found it better to call the police for help.

It is a funny story, but also one great example of responsibility since the neighbors took action in alerting the police about troubles in their community.

Thanks to our lifestyles and the little care that we give to the environment, every year more and more species go extinct. This sadly is also the case of the Blue Macaw parrot, the one that was portrayed in the famous cartoon named Rio.
In the animated pictures, Rio flies from Minnesota to Rio de Janeiro, thinking he is the last one of the species left but then he meets the female, Jewel. Unfortunately, real life is not like the movies, where the too managed to save the species.

It was only seven years ago that the Blue Macaw was listed on the endangered species list and this year, in January it was declared extinct. According to BirdLife International, the parrot species cannot be observed in nature for a long time and it lives in captivity, but only a few examples remained. There is also no breeding program focusing on them and their extinction was caused by mass deforestation and severe loss of territory.
Researchers started raising awareness on the issues facing the Blue Macaw species since the 1980s but sadly seems that no one took these warnings seriously.
In January, BirdLife International listed another 7 bird species as extinct, from which 5 were South American species, where mass-deforestations are an ongoing threat. Until people don’t realize the threat that they present to nature and the different species inhabiting it, news like this is going to continue making headlines.

Fans of Dracula are going to get excited about this species of parrot, which looks like the vampire count’s pet. These mysterious-looking birds are called Pesquet’s parrot and their ivory black feathers make them hard to forget.
The most stunning thing about them is their scarlet plumage, which creates an interesting contrast and they are not at all as scary as they look.
They are referred to as “Dracula parrots” in popular culture but don’t worry as they feed on figs and not on blood. If you want to meet the Pesquet’s parrot, you’ll have to travel to New Guinea as they can be found nowhere else. They are large birds that weigh around 26 oz and have a length of 20 inches.

The male parrot can be distinguished from females after the red patches that can be found behind there ears and they are most likely to be spotted in the mountains of New Guinea.
