Camping has been an all American tradition for more than the last century. Here’s a great DIY project. To build it, you can use old pallets. You will also need to prepare your toolbox and in case you don’t have one just borrow some tools from friends, instead of buying a whole set.

“The frame is made of pallet pieces for the most part (except for the fabric)… some pallets have those supports in them ( you can see that part is called a “runner”)… we disassembled another pallet to use just those pieces, and cut the ends of them on angles to fit together at the top points and onto the tops of the walls. we then used a thick rod to go from the front top point to the back top point, and then i made a fabric roof with some ties to go over the whole thing.”

1.Find a suitable spot for your willow den and mark the footprint using your spade, some string or sand.

2. Salix Viminalis or other Viminalis species are generally recommended as they are quick growing, hardy and ideal for living willow dens.

3. Start by finding 6 of the sturdiest willow whips to make your entrance, bringing them together to form an arch.

4. You will need to tie these securely together using your garden string or cable tie to ensure that you have a stable arch.

5. Stems should be planted about 10cm into the ground.
