As Miguel Ángel Escobar and his family sailed through the tranquil waters of Honduras, their eyes caught sight of a distressing scene—an apparently lifeless sea turtle stranded on the shore. The turtle, motionless and seemingly abandoned, painted a grim picture against the backdrop of the serene coastline. The concerned Escobar family couldn’t bear to leave the creature in such a dire state. Driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility towards marine life, they decided to take matters into their own hands.

As the family approached the stranded sea turtle, they noticed that it was trapped under the root of a tree. With a lot of care and collective effort, Escobar managed to cut the tree’s roots, and eventually, the tired turtle was finally rescued and disappeared into the waves.  The Escobar family’s impromptu rescue mission had not only saved a life but had also become a powerful testament to the impact that compassion and swift action can have on the delicate balance of marine ecosystems.

Sea turtle hatchlings trapped in hole on Holmes Beach rescued, released into Gulf https://goodshomedesign.com/sea-turtle-hatchlings-trapped-hole-holmes-beach-rescued-released-gulf/ https://goodshomedesign.com/sea-turtle-hatchlings-trapped-hole-holmes-beach-rescued-released-gulf/#respond Tue, 31 Oct 2023 00:53:11 +0000 https://goodshomedesign.com/?p=60880

Four sea turtle hatchlings were rescued after becoming trapped in a hole on Holmes Beach. For this reason officials are reminding beachgoers to fill in their holes after they left the beach.
“Fill in any holes dug in the sand. Holes can trap turtles and they also pose a safety risk to humans.”

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission offers the following tips to keep Florida’s sea turtles safe:

  • Keep beaches dark. After sundown, turn off any lights not necessary for human safety. Use long wavelength amber LED lamps for lights that must stay lit and shield lights, so they are not visible from the beach. Remember to close shades or curtains at night.
  • No flash photos. On the beach at night, don’t take flash photos or use bright cellphones or flashlights. This can cause turtles to become disoriented and crawl away from the ocean, putting them at risk.
  • Remember, sea turtles are protected by law. Keep your distance and give sea turtles space if you see one on the beach. Never touch a nesting turtle because it might leave the beach without nesting if disturbed.
  • Clear the way at the end of the day. Beach furniture, boats, toys and trash left behind on the sand can become obstacles that block crawling sea turtles. Fill in any holes dug in the sand. Holes can trap turtles and they also pose a safety risk to humans.

The deep sea is home to a lot of mysterious creatures that have developed special features due to the lack of sunlight. To survive in the deep ocean waters, the inhabitants of it have adapted to the conditions and one lucky scuba diver came across something very special.
When he decided to take his camera underwater, he encountered an ancient-looking sea turtle and captured this unique moment for posterity. The diver is a member of a conservation group and submerged in the San Marcos River in Texas to learn more about the hidden creatures of deep waters.
The footage took the Internet by surprise and raise a lot of awareness for the conservation project.
As it can be seen from the video, the turtle is quite old and covered in algae, but it has eyes of very vibrant color.
The diver wasn’t surprised at all at the sight of the turtle, as the group already suspected it lives down there and went there to document its habitat.

World’s Largest Sea Turtle Emerges From The Sea And It Is Amazing https://goodshomedesign.com/worlds-largest-sea-turtle-emerges-from-the-sea-and-it-is-amazing/ https://goodshomedesign.com/worlds-largest-sea-turtle-emerges-from-the-sea-and-it-is-amazing/#comments Sat, 11 Apr 2020 17:14:56 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=50051

Sea turtles are majestic creatures and this one spotted by tourists on a beach is the world’s largest.
The Leatherback Turtle was seen emerging from the sea in an unknown location, resting in the sand and then heading back just to disappear in the waves.
These turtles are known to be the biggest sized from all and spotting them resting on the shore is a very rare sight. Their peculiarity is their tear-shaped body and the large pair of front flippers. Thanks to these they can navigate the waters effortlessly and adapt to currents. The front flippers of the Leatherback turtles can grow up to 8.9 ft which is a lot in comparison to any other turtles, but it’s not their only distinguishable characteristic. The most obvious one is that they don’t have a bony carapace, but instead they have thick skin, which looks like leather and this is where their name comes from.
Leatherback turtles are usually dark grey or black with a few white spots. To see this amazing specimen for yourself, watch the video of the one spotted on the beach.

What is the largest sea turtle?

According with National Ocean Service

The leatherback is the largest living sea turtle.

Weighing in at between 550 and 2,000 pounds with lengths of up to six feet, the leatherback is a big turtle! Leatherback sea turtles can be distinguished from other species of sea turtle by its lack of a hard shell or scales. Instead, leatherbacks are covered with a firm, rubbery skin.
