There are a lot of peculiar places in the world which make them unique destinations for landscape photographers.
This amazing place is located in the Indian Ocean, named Socotra, and is a small island close to the shores of Yemen.
Thanks to its isolated position, the island is home to a variety of unique living creatures and 30% of the plants from here cannot be found anywhere else. The place is resembling an alien world at a closer exploration and was even declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The island is only 83 miles long and 28 miles wide, and due to the dry climate, it has a lot of succulents growing on its surface. Socotra is also home to unique bird species and reptiles, such as legless lizards for instance.
The only mammals that are native to Socotra, are bats, but in time other animals have managed to reach the isolated island and populate it. Since this is an unusual place for every aspect, visiting it can make for an amazing experience, but keep in mind that you will need to leave some of your comforts behind.
The island is wild and there is limited infrastructure when it comes to transportation, but there are bike and motorbike tours available that will let you explore the island at your own pace.
