How to Build a Deck around a Pool

Having your own pool in your yard can be a true blessing. Just think about it how cool it would be to go home after a long and hot summer day, and take a bath in your pool. Pools are usually a big investment, but nowadays the market is full of above ground pools which can be a great and cheaper option. But as anything else that is purchased and installed for the first time, above the ground pools have their own special conditions. For instance, when you want to set up such a pool, always keep in mind that positioning is important. Make sure you have enough space for it and avoid placing the pool under trees, otherwise you will have constantly clean the fallen leaves and bugs from its surface. Also, start preparing the area before installing the pool, as you will need a clean space and preferably a concrete base (you can also use soil or sand). Watch in the video below how to build a deck around a pool..

Here’s a detailed video on how to build a deck around a pool, by Craig Heffernan. We start by digging the holes, building the frame, screwing down the decking, building stairs, a swing gate, and access door, lattice and frame, baluster railing and treating the new wood with my favorite CWF cedar tone color. The deck is built partially around the pool. We used treated lumber on the entire project. We used ACQ approved screws and nails.

Interesting concept for an article and nicely done! It isn’t too often that you see people with decks around their out of ground pools but it is a great idea and really shines them up.
