Doing laundries can be relaxing sometimes, but the right environment can contribute a lot to this feeling. Setting up your laundry room is not that much of work, especially if you use lots of recycled items. To organize your laundry room the best and nicest way, you can use a lot of recycled recipients and customize them a bit. To give you an example, you can use old mason jars to store your soap and fabric softener and add some cute labels to make them look like store-bought ones. Or if you tend to end up with lost socks after a laundry day, just craft a small lost socks board by using a wooden piece and some clothes pins. Pin the lost socks there until the next laundry day and who knows, maybe you’ll find the right match for them the next time. Decorating your home could be an ordeal if you plan to change a lot of the structure in the re-design process. The bedroom is particularly difficult to give a fresh new look because of the main elements – bed, nightstands, closet- which must have their specific position in a room. So a complete makeover will take a lot of work and effort. Alternatively, the same beautiful result can be achieved with some cutting edge stencils. Check out this lovely collection of DIY bedroom ideas. Applying the stencils on the walls won’t take a lot of time and the effect isn’t that permanent, so it’s much easier than a re-structuring. The different shades of green, gray, blue can have a powerful impact on the ambient in the room. 7 DIY Air Freshener Ideas https://goodshomedesign.com/7-diy-air-freshener-ideas/ https://goodshomedesign.com/7-diy-air-freshener-ideas/#respond Tue, 02 Sep 2014 00:44:41 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=19816 ways-to-make-you-home-smell-amazing

Have you ever thought about making your own air freshener? Yes, this is quite an unusual task, but once you see how easy and practical it is, you want to do it as soon as possible. Buying air fresheners at a store can be risky, as you don’t know what sorts of chemicals you’ll bring in your home. Making your own air freshener means you control the ingredients and can make the product as natural as possible. You will need a jar or a larger bowl, depending on the type of the freshener you want to make. Use a bowl for one that has dry ingredients, such as handmade potpourri and use a jar to make the ones that have a jelly-like consistency or for candles. Below you will find 7 awesome ideas of how to make a DIY air freshener. Tell us which one is your favorite!

  4. Blend the essential oil with the dipropylene glycol or the diffuser base oil.
  5. Fill the diffuser bottles or containers to approximately 75 to 85 percent capacity with the reed diffuser oil.
  6. Put reeds into the oil and allow them to sit for one hour.
  7. Flip the reeds over after an hour to saturate the top part of the reeds that stick out above the oil level.
  8. Place the finished reed diffuser container somewhere suitable in your home.

DIY Swan Planter Idea https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-swan-planter-idea/ https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-swan-planter-idea/#respond Fri, 14 Mar 2014 18:11:08 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=15358 diy-swan-planter

Do you like those animal or bird planters you see in exquisite public gardens? Bring style to your home as well. You won’t believe how easy it is to make a beautiful outdoor decoration in the shape of a swan just out of DIY materials. Improve the aspect of your garden in a matter of hours. All you have to do is pay attention to these instructions and grab the following list of materials:

• a 5 L plastic bottle;
• a sharp cutter;
• a metal stick;
• a couple of metal grill;
• soil;
• clay;
• a brush;
• orange and black paint;

First, cut off a big hole in the side of the plastic bottle. Fill the PET with soil and punch a small orifice in the lid. Take a metal stick and bend it (maybe use a hammer) in an S-shape manner. Place the stick in the lid. Apply a coat of clay over the bottle, just like in the photo, leaving the neck (although excluding the lid) free for the time being. Grab the two metal grills and press them into each side of the bottle. Do this while the clay has not dried. Use your hands and fingers to apply clay on it and fashion the wings of your swan.

Then, cover the metal stick with clay. But use some medical cloth to wrap it. This will make the neck and head of the swan more elegant and smooth when you apply afterward another coat of clay. Let it dry for a couple of hours before painting the eyes and beak. It looks great! Place your plant in it and marvel at what you did with your own hands.

DIY Butterfly Snack Bags https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-butterfly-snack-bags/ https://goodshomedesign.com/diy-butterfly-snack-bags/#comments Thu, 20 Feb 2014 23:25:57 +0000 http://goodshomedesign.com/?p=14926 butterfly-snack-bags

When you’re handling food, especially around kids, you wish it would look as adorable as it can. But not all foods can be decorated in order to catch a smile from the little eater. Don’t get sad, though. There is one simple way to achieve that result: the butterfly snack bag. For this, you will need the following:

• a wood clothespin;
• a Ziploc bags;
• a pair of `googly` eyes;
• a craft pipe cleaner;
• some glue;
• (optional) magnet;
• (optional) a marker;

butterfly-snack-bags-1

The real significance behind a device like this is its rather short-term utility besides the perceived cuteness. So, with this type of using a sandwich bag, you actually result in using a single unit as two. Start with curling the pipe cleaner to fashion the antennae of the butterfly and glue it to one side of the clothespin. Stick the eyes on the other side. Now, grab the bag from the middle, placed in between your fingers and thumb. While holding it like that, attach the pin onto it. Don’t forget to fill each side of the bag with your desired food, before placing the clothespin. The butterfly is complete. You could glue a magnet on the back if you store low weight ingredients in this bag. And if you don’t want or can’t find some funny eyes, just use a marker to draw them on.
