Urban areas are difficult for someone who wants to maintain a fresh diet. The main reason is money: fresh vegetables and fruits are expensive, because the produce has to be shipped and you end up paying for the delivery cost more than for the quality of the product itself. With the Mobile Good Food Market, you can have your fresh veggies and greens without traveling. Thanks to a collaboration between FoodShare Toronto ,the City of Toronto, and United Way Toronto, an old bus was converted into what is a mobile food market. Everything from broccoli and lettuce, to apples and onions or other fruits and vegetables are available when the bus comes to town, twice per week. The price isn’t that much lower, because they have to take care of the costs involved by the bus, but all in all, the idea behind such a conversion is easy to praise and be impressed by. You can find more details in the video below…
this is one of the most creative, thoughtful ideas to come to fruition! I commend everyone who made this happen. Hopefully, the people will appreciate this & start eating healthier. If they’re really smart & care about our planets survival as well, they’ll go vegan!
How do I get a job delivering fresh fruit & veggies?!!
What a fantastic idea!
I volunteer at a food pantry that also provides clothing and household items. People either walk to our site, or ride the bus, this becomes problematic during the winter. To often we have no fresh foods to give people and donations for canned goods seem to drop over the summer.
Taking the fresh food to the area where people are living is brilliant. However, even staples are hard for them to acquire at times. I am very impressed! Keep up the good work.
So…. this is not really less expensive, the quality is not so great…What is this all about?!! Nonsense and resources for the greedy! We are not starving, nutrition is the lacking!!!
What is the most nutritious way to live,in this society?!?!
That is the question, carting around seconds to the ghetto is Not the answer!!
Judith, they said THIS “The price isn’t that much lower, because they have to take care of the COSTS INVOLVED WITH THE BUS”. I see nowhere in that article that they say the vegetables are seconds.
How hard is it to figure out? The bus brings fresh produce to neighborhoods where it’s not available. Better nutrition for people who can’t get to a supermarket. No “seconds.”
Are they come to sunnyvale califrona thank you
Sunnyvale has plenty of places to buy produce, and you also have a LOT of affordable choices. Why would they?
The bus is an excellent ideal, I would like to share more information about it.
To Whom This May Concern,
Please tell me more, my spirit feels the need for this service where I live as well.
God Bless You and Your’s,
Lynda G.
I would like all the information about where the truck was purchased and how they converted it and costs. Please we are interested in doing a similar endeavor. The people who submitted the article would be helpful. Thank you
google Foodshare Toronto
If the price is right and the products are good, continue the service to humanity and self.

Shut up, Judith. What the help are YOU doing to help.
I have worked on a feeding bus like the above in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Two hundred plus meals a night. We now do a food pantry at our church in Medina Ohio. I can see a bus with fresh produce and staples working in our area as well. What a great idea. Thank You.
This is an Excellent Idea moreso since it comes from a healthy perspective. Reminds of years ago with.milk being delivered to people’s homes and door steps. While it may be on a volunteer basis if it were in the right city I bet it could employ a driver or drivers which would be a little boost in employment. God Bless this ministry, hope it catches across the nation and comes to a Neighborhood Near You!
I have been planning on something like this because the prices we get from dealers and retailers for our fruit and veggies are extremely low. I am thinking we just drive and park at a good locations to sell.
Life is not always the images projected through the magic box you view the world through.
Many people have a hard times getting out to shop.
Without a cart
I’ve done the ride the bus with my groceries and it is not fun. I feel you are living in lala land . Wake up
It woukd be very much appreciate if your goodself could advise me how to go about to convert the bus into food truck.
Judith isn’t much of a reader.
Judith isn’t much of a reader, Anthony, because she doesn’t have the benefits of fresh vegetables and fruit. She’s ignorant.
I would be happy to help franchise this model all around the world.
With crowdsourcing methodologies, we, Humanity can stake in the future value of this scaling globally.
Let’s all get healthy & wealthy, one humanity!
Wonderful!!!!!!!
Be kind to Judith. You don’t know her. Besides, being kind costs nothing. Hurtful things hurt people.
I like this, please contact me at the above email. We have been talking about something like this.
We would absolutely love the mobile good food bus to please join us for our 17th Annual Victory for Victims event on Saturday, April 20th, 2019, Woodley Park, Van Nuys, CA. For more information please contact me at 818 718 5922.
Yep. I hear ya.Fresh produce spoils and isn’t practical if your budget is tight.
I’d like to know how many of the people promoting this endeavor have been really low on funds or generationally low on funds. Because if you were you’d know that when you’re really trying to stretch a dollar or a quarter you don’t buy things with a short shelf life. Don’t foist your values on cultures you know nothing about. Ok?
No need to belittle others efforts, the food looks good to me!
This is a good idea that should start every where West Virginia Randolph County
Seconds are beautiful, full of flavour, packed with nutrition, the uglier the better. This is a wonderful idea, I wish you years of continued success!
This is a beautiful truck. We have a similar truck, only it is a box truck and not a passenger van sized operation. Craftsman Industries built it. See our website for pictures MercyBrownBag.org. We give all food free of charge to older adults in need in Alameda County.
Nice idea, ? light to all of us.
This bus is in Toronto ontario Canada not the US if you read the article it says FoodShare Toronto ,the City of Toronto, and United Way Toronto worked together to get this bus up and running !!! Althiugh if u read all the comments there are 2 people who say they are making something similar, and be world wide
How can I work with you to bring a truck like this to Long Beach California.
I too would like to see the cost and more specifics on this bus.
I love this idea and want to bring it to urban areas. How suitable and practical would it be in areas of extreme poverty and high crime and how expensive is it to convert a bus. I am very much interested.
To bad it doesn’t come up to Owen Sound
