Ocean life is diverse and fascinating, and since 70% of Earth is covered by water there is still a lot to be learned about the ecosystems inside our oceans.
Pollution is a serious threat to this hidden life, and we can still find plastic waste even in the depths of the deepest seas. If this mass pollution continues and humans continue to hoard non-biodegradable materials, soon there will be no clean waters left and a lot of species are going to be extinct.
There is a cute video that went viral with scuba divers in Lembeh, Indonesia, who found a baby octopus taking shelter in a plastic cup. The divers tried to convince the octopus to switch its home and move from the plastic cup to a seashell. The team of divers decided to film the entire incident and dedicated the entire dive to saving the baby octopus. From all the sea creatures, octopuses are well-known for their high intelligence and when studied in captivity they have managed to complete intricate tasks, such as navigating mazes and remember past events. To learn more about this story, watch the video made by the divers.
