By using a few IKEA kitchen cabinets and some wood, he made a platform on which a mattress was added. Those cabinets are not meant for walking on; they will never hold up under the wear and tear this set up will give them. Might be OK for a small lightweight child, but not one or two adults.
How is the bed holding up? I love the idea and we have used ikea cabinets in 2 kitchens so far.
