Benches and booths mean everyone has to get up when someone wants to get up.
Also, wondering if anyone has ever spilled something over the other side.

    • Danijel says:

you are joking right? – Why should all get up if I seat on outside – at least 2 of them 🙁

and IF then only one side – but you are right there is always a moron who spilles everything :/

come on – you must be joking

    • Deloma says:

Jim, I thought about this also.Decided you could always put a small lip around the edge. No drips on anyone. Let those that have to get up sit on the outside edges. Love it! It’s dual purpose and brings people together, especially for the cook so they can be with their guest.

    • Bonnie says:

Good point about the way people are sitting if someone needs to get up for something. The chairs tucked under the table looks efficient!

  2. Karen says:

Looks amazing. I love breakfast nooks ❤

  3. Dawn says:

Well if people are eating together as a family, then no one should be getting up until the meal is over. More families need to eat their meals together as a family.

  4. Melody says:

    Jim I totally agree.
    These designs are complicated!

  5. Fam says:

I love the idea, i personally love the bench nook type but if you look they are different options so you can have a dining area with chairs too

  6. Nadia says:

  8. Lori Sullivan says:

I love the kitchens they all are beautiful

  9. Sid says:

This is perfect. And dawn I agree. Proper manners stipulate that everyone must finish before anyone gets up. Unless granted permission lol.

  10. Kimberly edwards says:

Gabby those are beautiful is that what you wantin your house

  11. Amelia says:

It’s no different then going out to eat and being seated at a booth. Sometimes at regular tables you have to scoot in so someone can get around or get up so they can get out. Everyone has their own style. I love it!

  12. Danielle Welbon says:

    Where are you locations?

  13. Lisa Leake says:

Love This For A Big Family Leake Party Of 7

  14. Grace says:

A couple of them are ok. For others there would be too much running around the counter to set up and get food on the table. It would be a nightmare for a family at every meal.
Perhaps if the designer was someone who has actually raised a family, cooking at odd hours, kids up and down.

Jim’s comment is good. Who wants to scoot in to the center at every meal?

  15. Mia Duvenage says:

I also dont prefer benches… VERY uncomfortable!
but i love the wood work

  16. mia duvenage says:

We excuse the kids after lunch. Not necessary for them to share the conversation, if they prefer going outside??

  18. Vanessa says:

Someone always has to get up, for a good reason. 🙂

  19. Kea says:

I mean, Dawn…what if you gotta pee? Get seconds? Get more to drink? If you’re all gonna stay seated, you need a solid bladder!

  20. Stephanie says:

Agreed, it matters not that you would have to get up if someone had to be excused or not.

  21. Angie says:

It’s beautiful & a great idea, people commenting on wat if u need to get up, haven’t u eaten at a booth in a restaurant, u don’t need to b getting up & down

  22. TERESA says:

I LOVE ALL OF THESE IDEALS!!!!!!!!!

  23. Rebecca says:

I LOVE the first one, but I had the same thought over everyone having to move if someone needs up….sooooo….why not eliminate the side benches and leave that open as a walk through space and just put a farmtable type bench on the other side (outside of table)?

  24. Rick says:

This is a complicated and overwhelming build…takes to much space..very costly to build..therefore expensive to buy

  25. George says:

So I guess you’ve never had to pee in the middle of a meal?

That said, I love that first pic of the rustic kitchen.

  26. Kaethe stickley says:

    Love to have a quate

  27. Natalie Cappelli Innella says:

The designs and the pictures look awesome but in reality it’s a bit much. So complicated should someone need to get up, or move for some reason. Sometimes people just like to stand at a counter – I prefer movable seats (counter height) I would also prefer a table where the family could gather.

  28. Cindy says:

How much would cushions cost for the nooks? Is there a link to order such cushions? Thank you

  29. Carrie says:

I think it’s a great idea especially for 1 or 2 people with occassional guests

  30. Cindy Crocker says:

I remember growing up, my cousins had an Uncle who had a breakfast nook with benches. These were so uncommon. They also had the bar with stools. And we loved it. So cool I’m the 60s and 70s. I love this ideal.

  31. Jamie says:

Dawn I agree with you my family always sits down to eat together but my 6 year old always has to pee 10 minutes into to dinner so I would just put him on the end and done but I just love how the big one would still have enough room for a high chairs or to pull up a couple other chairs when guests would come over

  32. Love..love..love these kitchen islands...do you install these on Chestertown Md. says:

Love these islands…..live in Chestertown md

  33. Stacey E says:

Families should sit and eat together. My almost grown teenagers get mad when we don’t eat as a family.

  34. Kim says:

I don’t agree with these being complicated. I’ve wanted the last design for a while, now. I could make better use of unused space. We would eat there, remove the freestanding table and add a bench with storage under my window for shoes (we don’t wear them inside the house). The kitchen will be beautiful and functional.

  35. laveta says:

benches are great for kids and gatherings. as to logistics of benches we all like booths at restaurants and do ok

  36. Aimee J Rains says:

My husband is a Master Craftsman. He builds anything you want. But, he’s turning 65 this year and doesn’t know if he can do everything like he usually does. He can do plumbing and electrical too.

I just wanted to tell you that I love your advertised designs. Do you have a hard copy of the designs you offer?

  37. Angela Eisenhardt says:

I love all the counter space and work areas and all the little places you can store things and hide them away.

  38. Bonnie says:

I love all of these layouts. I am highly visual and love the ones that are more farm house oriented.
