Just make sure you move that ridiculous thing before the technician shows up to work on the system. You should probably consult the owners manual to make sure it’s not to close to the unit. Most manufacturers recommend 12-18 inches of clearance on all sides of the condenser. You don’t want to spend $2,000 replacing a compressor just to get rid of an ugly eyesore.

  2. David says:

This is a stupid idea. Your ac needs room to get rid of heat and take in air. Do not do this!

  3. HVAC says:

Your unit ain’t gonna work too well after having all the airflow cut off by this.

  4. Andy says:

Please don’t tell people to do this you will blow the compressor and blow out on the high head pressure , if you do this you will half to replace the condenser with in a year

  5. Justin says:

This can cost thousands of dollars in damage and elevated energy costs.

I’m slightly baffled by the fact that someone thought it would be a good idea to block airflow to an A/C unit. It’ll still work yes, but at decreased efficiency. If you’re thinking of building one, consider the aspect of ventilation for air in-flow to the unit.
