DIY Easter Egg Dye

This Easter, why not dye your eggs the organic way, by choosing a method that was widely used back when our grandparents were young? Who would have thought that DIY was not a recent thing. You will have to use onion skins, so you can see that it is a cheap and eco friendly way of dying the Easter eggs. Besides this you can create any pattern you like on the eggs, as you will also be using leaves or small flowers. In order to make this, you will need:

• eggs (obviously);
• onion skins (gather as lot as possible);
• a cloth or stockings;
• a pair of scissors;
• rubber band;
• water;
• oil;
• small leaves and flowers;

First of all peel of the skin of the onions. Put water in a large bowl and let it boil. Put the onion skins in the water and boil for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile clean the eggs and place the leaves and flowers on the in the shape you like. Cover them with the cloth or the stockings, by cutting pieces if fabric big enough to cover each egg. Secure with rubber band and place them in the boiling water for 8-10 minutes. When they are done, take them out of the water, remove the cloth and the leaves and you will see how beautiful and unique each egg will look.
