DIY Pista Shell Bird For Wall Decoration

Do you like pistachio? Next time you eat these nuts, don’t throw out the shells in the garbage as you can reuse them for a cute little craft. Luckily, someone already tried out this craft and it turned out great. The name of the project is Pista shell bird wall decoration and that is exactly what you’ll get as an end result, a funky wall decoration with birds made out of pistachio shells. Sounds cool, right? What you’ll have to do first is to wash the shells to clean all remaining salt. Leave them on a piece of newspaper to dry and then you can paint each shell the way you like. Let the paint dry and then you can start painting a small tree on your wall (anywhere you like) and then use glue to fix each shell in place. Don’t forget about the finishing touches to make the birds look complete and decorate each branch with an elegant flower. The result is truly beautiful!

    Too cute!! And now i’m in the mood
    for pistachios!

    @Ros,
    I use acrylic paint – the
    small bottles are inexpensive so
    you can buy a bunch of colors.
    I’m sure other paints would work too-
    (like Tempera) but might need a sealer.

    @Sharon,
    The beaks looks like they’re
    painted directly on the wall.

  16. Laura says:

    add:
    I’m thinking about trying to make a small
    free-standing one…using the whole nut,
    & cut the tip off of a wooden skewer
    (paint black & glue on) for the beak.

    Polish on all crayons. If I were you, is lay down mt,life for you..

    I would cut the tiny beaks out of stiff felt and glue on and magic marker the eye,unless you want to spend for the mini eyes at craft dept. This is just my suggestion.
