One of our neighbors where I grew up had their table like this in the kitchen. It was all metal and I thought that was the neatest thing I had ever seen. No other houses that I have visited before or since had one. This is the first one I have seen since I left the home neighborhood. The people that bought the house remodeled and tore it out. What a shame I didn’t know and couldn’t go see if it was salvageable. I am seriously thinking about putting this on the north side of our deck so I can have a table out there all the time without having to move it if we don’t need it.

Looked this over , yes , would be pretty good for a fixed position as shown , . . . could not let my mind let go without exploring the concept further . . . could be a yard “screen” adaptation other than on a wall . . . ??? Thanks , neat . . .

Hi everyone! I am owner of Harmony Custom Designs. This is not a diy project with plans, it is a pre made kit that you can assemble. With some research I found the company that sells the kit. They are based in Portugal and sell the DIY kits for about $3,000 plus freight. I apologize for any confusion. Harmony Custom Designs is a custom builder based in Celina, Tx. We do custom woodworking and builds for clients here in Texas. Sam is my grandfather and just trying to help us get our name out there I guess. We do not have a plan set for this picnic table, but it is something we most certainly could build if a customer was interested.
If you feel you could build this, then why not make these plans as well? I feel that if you can make this or something like this, you could draw plans for yourself. People would buy them if they are very reasonable.
I too went to the website and tried the free download then I had to go in and delete a crap load of stuff off my computer. And ost of it wanted to be “Paid ” for before it finished downloading or rather installing. I’m with those who say if you can build it, why not draw up the plans and sell them. I can tell by looking where the fold up legs on the benches are and I presume a good pair of hinges on top of each X folded legs will let them be folded up when stood on end as would also work for the support end of the table. What I haven’t figured out yet is how it is supported on the end nest to the wall, since it only had the one support on the table. I see the pieces of wood at the top of the frame that is vertical when the table and benches are folded out, and horizontial when they are stored. I’m sure we could “southern engineer” something but it sure sould be easier with some instructions. The construction is easy to see since it is all on display when folded up. The demensions can be easily figured out depending on what size lumber you want to use. Like 1 x 6’s for the benches and table top. The rest you can just go from there. I built 3 walk thru gates and a double drive thru gate for our yard and I simply took photos of gates from advertisements that I liked and went from there. I adapted for the size opening I wanted and laid it out on a concete shop floor and used a seam in the concrete for the bottom line and used a square to make sure it was square and figured out what I needed for space and the lengthes of cross bars and built it. Easy peasy. And I was a telephone operator, not a carpenter or such. Now I do have a husband who has done construction, but was working out of town so he wasn’t here to help. But , if you pay attention to stuff being done and you simply sit down and study something, like the photos, before you start, you can do it with minimal math and simply basic skills like sawing and screwing the cross bars to the fence boards. I did use treated 6 ft. fence posts as that was the height of my fence and so only had the supports to cut to measure. If you watch, you learn by observation. If I can do that then you folks who have done more DIY stuff should surely be able to do this.
Peachy! You are more competent with crafting with your hands than I am. So can you draw this up so people like me can follow numbered steps and not wind up with firewood?
Looks like it might be guide rollers, like on the edges of a roll-up garage door. Hide the channel behind thin wooden slats to make them attractive. Hard to tell in that picture….
The only part of this set that stumped me was how in the world they were supporting the table??? But! If you look very close, they have cut a groove in the frame that the benches and table would slide up to only a certain point. I would imagine they attached a dowel to each end of the benches and table to fit in the grooves. I have been looking at this thing for over month trying to come up with the plans. And finally, I was looking at a Portuguese company website that makes sells sets very similar to this one and got a close up view of their design. They had routed out a candy cane shape in the frame and attached glider wheels on brackets to the benches and table. So that is one way to do it. Or this one here has a groove cut into the frame… Most likely a dowel that fit in it and stops. Look super close at the photo and you can see it. From there, its all 2×4’s and either 1×6’s or 2×6’s… You can customize the dimensions and sizes you want.
