This elderly man wanted to get a comfortable piece of furniture. So his family decided to take him to find suitable couches and chairs. However, the grandfather had one small request. He told his family that he wanted his loyal companion to check out the furniture before buying it. If you are wondering who this loyal companion is, it is none other than his dog, Coco.

A cute photo but a terrible idea. This man could surely figure out which chair would suit his dog without taking her along. I love my dog and would buy a chair with her in mind. However, I would never take her to a furniture store to “try out” chairs that I may or may not buy. Other people have the right to shop for and/or buy expensive new furniture that doesn’t have dog hair/dandruff already on it. Human nature being what it is, others would think it was a cute idea to also bring THEIR dog to the store to try out the furniture. While this furniture might just be floor models, there are people with severe allergies who get sick with even brief exposure to pets. They wouldn’t be able to shop for furniture at this store without getting sick. Use some common sense.
Get a grip on reality lady! Your snarky bitch fest is over the top. Did you stop to think the furniture may have been cleaned post visit? All i see is a troller leaping on a cute story about an old man and his dog being an excuse to show the world you have a superior view. Good for grandpa. I would do the same.

Why is it that some people think they take precedence over everyone else. If this guy wants to see if his dog can get up on the chair before he pays good money for it – I think that is a reasonable request. If someone is THAT allergic to dogs – they probably are prepared to encounter some here and there and are on medication. The amount of dog hair left on that chair is so minimal – that it could be taken off with a good strong piece of tape. No problem. The dog didn’t live on the chair. Honestly, how can someone that could get THAT sick with such a secondary exposure to a dog even survive in the world without some sort of preventative medication? You have given the true over reacting dramatic reply that we all expect.
Okay, but the reverse of your argument applies as well. Why should this man and his dog take precedence over everyone else who shops at that store? Why not take a simple measurement of the current chair or whatever and use that to make sure the dog can get on it? Sure the picture of the elderly man and his dog is cute, but the OP HAS a point. How enjoyable would it be to go shop in any store if people were allowed to bring their pets in willy nilly whenever and wherever they feel like? Why do you think Service Animals are so strictly regulated? Now, if they made arrangements with the store to come in during off hours and he was the only person in the store with his family and the furniture was cleaned after, that’s a different story. But to just show up with a dog and announce the dog has to pick out the chair is totally unreasonable and very inconsiderate. Pretty much EXACTLY what you claim everyone who isn’t this guy and his dog of being.
This looks like a dog most allergic people could get along with. There are several breeds out there almost everyone can tolerate! Looks like a wonderful companion!
I have a service dog that goes with me everywhere. According to your post, my dog, which is a medical alert dog, wouldn’t be allowed anywhere. That is BS, my health is just as important as yours. My dog doesn’t jump on anyone, bug anyone or mess with anyone, although, people are continuously stopping me to pet him, see him, talk with me about their pets. I am reminding people daily that he is a medical alert dog, and is there for my health.
As DR pointed out, dander is at a minimum, and this is probably a floor model.

I can tell you aren’t a dog lover. One of my dogs likes to sit beside me in my chair. I think I might take him with me when I get a new one. Just to make sure there is enough room

But the composer of this article shouldn’t have used 1 picture to make 2 pictures, with the second picture being simply an enlargement of the first picture. That is so intellectually and physically lazy! It makes a mockery of modern technology–a mockery of the photographer’s zillions of pixels at his/her fingertips. Surely any competent photographer/journalist could have included a view of Coco’s face, straight-on. Dog lovers love to connect with the honesty and love portrayed in almost every dog’s face…but sadly we were disappointed to not even get the chance.

She does not shed, will not make anybody ill and another tidbit.. guess what.. They vaccumn and clean furniture stores too. And that store wouldn’t have allowed this to happen unless they could and followed policy. .. So before you speak in such a negative tone about something you know nothing about on social media, learn the facts. Most of the time a senior has lost his spouse and beloved furkid is their 24 hr comfort, it’s obvious he wanted to make sure his senior poodle Coco could also get in chair without falling too. I’ve worked with people and pets for over 40 years, owned 2 corporations and next time if can’t say something kind, please say nothing at all. I think this is awesome!! Wonderful story?

The dog pictured is a poodle or similar breed and as such is non shedding and hypoallergenic. It certainly wouldn’t have hairs all over….good on him I say, its lovely to see someone who thinks so much of their dog.

Well said DR..funny little thing human shed hair and dandruff our skin contains oils We also bring fleas in our home and god knows what other germs in our shoes and clothing .how about that . People at furniture stores know what their doing. Common sense will that dogs his companion. I work for a furniture store and we have our customers bring in their loving companions all of the time. We even have treats at the store for them. Recliners come in all sizes and some of them are higher up off the floor and some don’t have as much space at the foot as others. These recliners can cost over thousand dollars, we want our customers to be comfortable and happy with their purchase so if they need to bring in their pet, let them do it. 🙂
Poodles are hypoallergenic they don’t shed or produce dander. Their is just like human hair its very delicate which is why gooming is so high maintenance coat needs to brushed and conditioned constantly or they split ends and tangles just like us. But the do not produce any allergens which is why they are perfect for people with allergies
Poodles don’t produce allergens they are a hypoallergenic breed which if you are allergic to dogs poodles are a great dog to have they do not shed or pro2 pet dander like most dogs their hair is just hair no undercoat its very similar to human hair which means it’s alot harder to up keep unless you keep their coat short or it will grow continuously lots of brushing and conditioning

He has every right to allow his dog to try out furniture. Not to mention anywhere you go, you’re going to encounter dog hair, dog dander, etc. Just by going to walmart or being out in public around others who own pets. And there are people who bring their pets everywhere with them, because they are service animals. It doesn’t matter where you go. You’ll always be around pet fur and pet dander.
This person should lighten up! I would also take my dog if she is allowed in the store! I’m sure the store has thought about other people coming into their business!

DR, she looks like a poodle or poodle cross (like our Greta who is a Poodle/Westie cross) and they do not shed hair, which is why they need clipping, especially in summer. There’d be a plethora of of unsavoury things in residence on that chair, but not Coco’s hair!!
First of all, that dog is hypoallergenic. Second, that’s a floor model. No one is taking THAT chair home. Lordt, get some help and lighten up.
