Artist Wraps a Stratocaster Guitar in a ‘Flower Power’ Crochet

The flower-power movement was iconic for the 60s and 70s when a large number of young people protested against the Vietnam war and advocated a pacifist lifestyle. The poster child for this movement were the hippies and lots of rock bands from that era embraced similar views and shared the anti-war message with their audiences through music.

To celebrate the flower power movement from the 1960s a Portuguese artist, by the name of Joana Vasconcelos made a piece of art representing beautiful crochet wrapped Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. Her amazing design features a collection of colorful crochet flowers and her piece covers both the front and the end of the guitar. The Fender Stratocaster is considered the most iconic musical instrument of the 60s and 70s and is the guitar of choice for musicians like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. Vasconcelos’s Flower Power piece was listed at the Big Art Auction on the 4th of November. The event was initiated by The Big Issue Group and Creative Giants and raised funds for The Big Issued Group which aims to end poverty and offer work to people in need.
