A cabin somewhere in the woods or on the shores of the sea can be the perfect getaway if you want to relax and have some quiet time. There are lots of beautiful cabins out there which are for rent, but this means spending money whenever you want to have a peaceful weekend. How about investing a bit of money, to build your own cabin, where you can go whenever you want and have your own private space? You can make this dream come true, and no more than $2000 will help you build a 12×20 sized cabin. Of course you will probably need some help building it, as you will be working with materials such as wood, but you can always ask your friends or family to help you build a cute and cozy cabin. Check out the link below for more information and for a step-by-step tutorial on how to build one. It will be worth the effort as having your own cabin will save you a lot of money in the future!

Build the floor like a deck. Start with Pilings set in concrete then add beams (2 piece of lumber nailed together) then run joists opposite the beams. More height, but not that much more $ and then you don’t have 12′ unsupported joists which will make for a whimpy ie unsafe floor. Hat Tipped for putting this together and doing it yourself. Now it just needs some bunk beds and a wood stove.

  • Great article, the instructional pictures sure help a lot. Forget the naysayers and trolls… they are never happy, because they can’t do something like this themselves, so they tear other apart. City Idiots… or Citiots!!

Dustin’s comments are excellent too. I will be using a desk/murphy bed set up myself. Mine will also be a Tiny Home, on wheels with slideouts. Utilizing a different wall structure, SIP panels, as I live in Canada. Need the insulation as well as structural strength.

Keep on trucking my friend, excellently done. Kudos

This website is so poorly designed with ads everywhere. It’s impossible to follow. And, of course, when you think you’re clicking on the next page (because of the arrow), you’re actually clicking on an ad.
