Meet The Harpy Eagle, A Bird So Big, Some People Think It’s A Person In A Costume

If you’ve never before heard of the Harpy Eagle than you are in for a big surprise. It is among the largest raptors birds on the Planet, and at first glance you might even think that it is a person in a costume and not a real bird.

The Harpy Eagle looks both majestic and scary, as its size and peculiar look can cause people to have mixed feelings. They are birds of prey and can be very dangerous because of their immense claws and innate behavior and there can also be of 2 types: the American and the Papuan one.
Harpy Eagles live in rainforests and are among the largest species this Planet has ever seen, as their wingspan can reach even 7 feet. Still they only weight around 8.5-20 pounds and their peculiar and almost goofy-looking face might make you forget for a moment that they are dangerous predators.
Sadly, they are an endangered species as their habitat is under constant threat and there are only approximately 50,000 examples left in the world.

How awesome I’ve always loved those Eagles but there isn’t enough coverage. Watching them take full grown sloths for food is amazing.

First thing I thought of was The Mothman if these were in the United States I could see how these birds could possibly be mistaken for but that isn’t the case they really have to have a severe migration. These birds are absolutely beautiful it’s a shame I’m 50 yrs old and this is the first time I’ve ever seen a picture of this bird they are just amazing!!!

Wow! Awe inspiring creature, that’s for sure. I think I may have seen a picture of one many years ago and I didn’t read the caption/article and put it off to a Halloween costume. Most be one hell of an experience to see one up close. Wildlife photographers have got to have the best job in the world!
