How to build an underground shelter using a 20 ft. shipping container. Building a bunker seems like a pretty tough task. But with this next tutorial will make it very easy for you, so you will be able to build your own bunker. Such a bunker can prove to be very useful if you live in an area where you are constantly threatened by a natural disaster, such as tornadoes. The most important part of this project is to have a large space that you own, so you can start digging a hugehole in the ground. This will be the place where you build your bunker, by placing a shipping container inside. The hole in the pictures is 12 feet deep.     Cool.. but the manpower it will take and expenses to do that can build a small house of the same size.. just take a look at that concrete !!!

    CONEX boxes are not meant to hold the loads you are placing on them.

    If you pile dirt on top and around a shipping container it will eventually collapse. The metal is very thin and will rot out quickly. You need concrete slab around it if you want it to last.
