TeamLab, the internationally renowned art collective, is set to unveil a mesmerizing array of immersive installations at its new digital art museum, teamLab Borderless, located in Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills Gallery. Moving from its previous home in Tokyo’s Mori Building, the museum promises a captivating experience for visitors as they enter a universe of light and innovation. Scheduled to open its doors on February 9, the museum has already revealed a glimpse of what awaits patrons, showcasing a piece from the Light Sculpture – Flow series. This particular installation features massive sculptures wherein light appears to flow outward, creating a dynamic and immersive environment that draws viewers into its enchanting embrace.
One of the highlighted installations, Microcosmoses – Wobbling Light, presents an intriguing exploration of space and perception. Countless wobbling lights continuously traverse through a space that seemingly expands infinitely, challenging the viewer to comprehend the depth of the artwork. According to teamLab, this particular installation poses a thought-provoking question about the nature of the universe, contemplating whether disparate components, when forming different orders and overlapping as a whole, constitute the universe. TeamLab founder Toshiyuki Inoko expressed his awe and immersion in the creative process, emphasizing the transformative experience of being absorbed into the universe created by these innovative artworks. The anticipation builds as visitors prepare to step into this groundbreaking digital art museum, set to redefine the boundaries of artistic expression in central Tokyo.
