The Aquaponics Garden: An elegant table-top fish tank that cleans itself & grows fresh food at the same time

Having a fish might seem like the easiest pet to take care for, but people with experience in this area will prove you otherwise. The fish itself is not something hard to manage, but the environment it lives is! Managing fish tanks is a hard job, with all the cleaning, entertaining facilities and feeding aspect involved. That’s why technology has come a great way and delivered the Aquaponics Garden: an impressive ecosystem that combines a fish-tank that can clean itself and meantime grow fresh food. The design is quite modern and will make a perfect place for storing plants as well. There is actually a whole concept behind this sustainable fish tank, which proposes you grow plants with the help of waste water used by fish kept in tanks. Check out the whole thing in the photos provided. If you want to buy one, use the link below…

Aquaponics is a revolutionary system for growing plants by fertilizing them with the waste water from fish in a sustainable closed system. A combination of aquaculture and hydroponics, aquaponic gardening is an amazingly productive way to grow organic vegetables, greens, herbs, and fruits, while providing the added benefits of fresh fish as a safe, healthy source of protein. On a larger scale, it is a key solution to mitigating food insecurity, climate change, groundwater pollution, and the impacts of overfishing on our oceans.

Nice idea! Next level is to provide a natural environment for the creature(s) you want to enjoy looking at. . To minimize stress, fish need waterplants, sand/mud, hiding places and sufficient space to be able to explore, accelerate etc. The traditional bowls are now prohibited by law to be used as fishtanks.

    This is AWESOME! Questions:

How do you filter out the solids? Do you have to clean the tanks? is there a filter?

When I had my Aquaponic set up I had to maintain a careful balance of nutrients to maintain the health of the fish and the health of the plants, do you sell premixed packets of such ingredients?

What grade of plastic do you use to prevent BPA leaching?

    Totally agree with you!!
