With a beautiful but unusual design, this dome house can not be unnoticed. Built by Steve Aren, helped by his worker Tao, this dome building was finished in 6 weeks, in a farm in Thailand. The cost for the basic structure was under $6000, and with including furnishings, was approx. $9000. How does it look ?
“In 2011 I had a wonderful visit with my friend Hajjar. For years he has inspired me with his creative ideas. This time it was dome building. Hajjar, who’s actually my brother in-law’s brother, was using a pivoting arm to help create a perfect sphere. He and his wife offered me a spot on their large mango farm to build my own dome. Well, in about six weeks, my worker Tao and I, along with an occasional third worker, had my dome house up and painted. The cost for the basic structure was under $6000. It took a few more months to add the details, such as doors, screens, shelves, pond, sala (gazebo), stonework and landscaping. All this, including furnishings, was probably under $3000. Bringing my total cost to about $9,000. But this is in Thailand, where things are low cost and laws are relaxed. My next challenge will be pulling this off in the States. Love your thai dome I am looking forward to what comes in the states always wanted a dome partially bermed, small < 1000 sq ft in ne texas. Wow what aconcept.

I like what you did on mango farm. Building coades in US can be a challenge .I would build one as a sculpture ,not as a home. Giant turtle perhaps.
