House on Wheels: Beautiful Tiny House with Ynez Design

tiny-house-home-design

Oregon Cottage Company built this tiny house for a client who wanted a large loft and a large kitchen with the Ynez design. OCC started from the other model design (Syskiyou), removed the porch, added a utility room, deck, and enlarged the loft. The dormer loft added head height at the side walls which allowed to install windows, opening up the loft to air circulation and views. The added utility room on the trailer tongue allows for the hot water tank and bathroom storage. The bathroom consists of a composting toilet, tub with shower surround, recessed lighting, exhaust fan and access to the utility storage. Opposite the Kitchen counter are two large storage closets, one for a washer/dryer combo unit and room for an oven or microwave above. The other is used for clothing, vacuum cleaner with charging station and houses the recessed electrical panel… Take a look ..

  7. Irini says:

    Schau mal!

  8. Andrew says:

what about heating and air condition?
Is that included in the house price?

  9. Suzanne says:

Is there any place around my area where my husband & I can see one in person? We are interested in this to travel with when we retire.
What is the going rate for one of these?
    Can anyone build one, too?

    • Sandy says:

Anyone can build them Suzanne, my husband has a construction company and built one for one of his customers, very similar to go camping in the woods, its like a little cottage

      • Nerissa Dowling says:

Awesome!! How long did it take and ow much did he charge?

Would he make me one in a year or two when I come over? I am half American, half Australian- haven’t been back there since 1984 when I was 13- I miss it and want to come home!!

  10. LORENA says:

I love this one but isn’t there a way to build steps down to add storage to kitchen etc and maybe an foldable table by not adding the large window. This would make it easier for seniors.

  11. Robin Horasanian says:

Love this! I wouldn’t mind heading out to the woods if I had this to take along. Beats a tent or pop-up trailer!

  12. Beth says:

The only thing I dislike about most lofts in these houses is the lack of safety along the areas that are open down to the first floor. In the middle of the night when you have to “go” and are still groggy, would be very easy to go right off that open edge and fall to the floor below.

  13. Michelle says:

LOVE THIS! Where is the stove, tho? (Guess one could just use crockpots, toaster ovens, or hotplates).

  14. J Blazewicz says:

How much can you buy these houses for? Where in the NYC area can you buy them, the nearest destinations?

  15. larrie cole says:

started doing this about 30 years ago with a garden shed. just sold mine had solar, gravity heat, all the aminites sitting on 13.5 acres……ended up with 16 x 32 plus 16×10 deck when all said and done, total cost was only about 20,0000 cnd

  16. Michael says:

nice, but for $38k I can buy a heck of a nice used RV trailer and a new pickup to pull it.

  17. Rich says:

38k is a higher number for a 20 ft tiny home. I’m currently building a 22 ft tiny home and they have much more in them than you might think. RVs don’t even come close to the quality and craftsmanship that these homes have. Insulating properties of a tiny home are also far superior if you’re looking for something 4 season ready(windows, walls, doors wise). As far as price goes, if you were to build this all yourself, you could put that number at about 15 to 20k. If you really want to go even lower in price look for reclaimed materials you can put that number around 10 to 12k. If you’re really seriously thinking about building one of these try reading “Tiny House Design and Construction Guide” by Dan Louche

    • Garnet says:

Have you been in an rv? Sorry, but yuck, they are so plastic and stink like formaldehyde.I ditto that book

  18. Nancy Collier says:

how do these homes work as far as water septic heat /

    • Doug Schroeder says:

If anyone is interested I am building one similar to this that I am selling. It will have spray foam insulation, heat/ac, mid size fridge, cook top, custom cabinetry and high quality Jeld-wen windows. It is priced at $35,900 and I will deliver anywhere for a small mileage fee. If interested I can send you some pictures. 812-620-9970 thanks!

    Tenham Good weekend.

  20. Stephanie Rose says:

I would love a custom tiny home! Who on here can design one and how much?
    My email: stephiegrl316@yahoo.com

  21. curt says:

No Offense, but how do you justify $38000 for this? I see maybe $1500 for the trailer, maybe $4500-$5000 for materials. Thats an awful lot for labor, I just dont see it.

  22. Tammy says:

I like this design. I would add a rail to the loft along with stairs rather than a ladder.

  23. Leslie Taylor says:

Would like tot know total cost for this completed model in and trailer to carry, in addition to the weight.

  24. Maggie Morris says:

I would like to know how to purchase a tiny house on wheels.

  25. Trevor says:

They have been making RV’s for decades…. Travel trailers…5th wheels… All with better finishes then this. What is the appeal??

  26. Carlos Bonczok says:

Hi, could you please tell me if the complette plans are to sell?
