World’s Largest Sea Turtle Emerges From The Sea And It Is Amazing

Sea turtles are majestic creatures and this one spotted by tourists on a beach is the world’s largest.
The Leatherback Turtle was seen emerging from the sea in an unknown location, resting in the sand and then heading back just to disappear in the waves.
These turtles are known to be the biggest sized from all and spotting them resting on the shore is a very rare sight. Their peculiarity is their tear-shaped body and the large pair of front flippers. Thanks to these they can navigate the waters effortlessly and adapt to currents. The front flippers of the Leatherback turtles can grow up to 8.9 ft which is a lot in comparison to any other turtles, but it’s not their only distinguishable characteristic. The most obvious one is that they don’t have a bony carapace, but instead they have thick skin, which looks like leather and this is where their name comes from.
Leatherback turtles are usually dark grey or black with a few white spots. To see this amazing specimen for yourself, watch the video of the one spotted on the beach.

What is the largest sea turtle?

According with National Ocean Service

The leatherback is the largest living sea turtle.

Weighing in at between 550 and 2,000 pounds with lengths of up to six feet, the leatherback is a big turtle! Leatherback sea turtles can be distinguished from other species of sea turtle by its lack of a hard shell or scales. Instead, leatherbacks are covered with a firm, rubbery skin.

  3. PortA says:

That may be the worlds largest species of sea turtle, but I guarantee it’s not the largest. I’ve seen several larger ones along TX gulf coast and even one up in Matagorda Bay.

  4. Helen Ellerbach says:

Beautiful to see such a glorious creature.

  5. Marina Faye says:

Have seen turtles in Florida come ashore at night to lay their eggs. Much smaller than this one. Wonder why it would come onto beach in daytime. Spectators should stay further back away from this turtle 🐢

  6. Audrea Noelle says:

    Biggest turtle I’ve ever seen!

  7. Sadie shaw says:

I thought that the only reason that turtles come to the beach like that is to lay eggs. If that was the case these people interfered with her laying . Sometimes we humans need to respect nature and give the wildlife room to be wild . It would be like someone coming outside there home and all the neighboors coming into there yard to get a pic of them .. I’d be heading back in too.

  8. Wally Duncan says:

While it is a large turtle, the filming and photo keeping turtle in foreground and people in far background make an illusion that it is of monsterous size.

  9. Jostein Gjermstad says:

    How old can they be?

  29. Patricia Tardugno says:

The reason the turtle is in focus but the 2 people are NOT in focus is because the 2 people are back away from the turtle a bit. Like when tourists take photos that look like they are picking up the great pyramid, or leaning on the leaning tower of piza.

  30. Patricia Tardugno says:

Why?Is the obvious truth not allowed on this board?

  31. Sharon Atkinson says:
