Chickens LOVE pumpkins
I had to get rid of my chickens two years ago due to traveling too much for work. I am thinking about starting up a flock again. My previous feed setup wasn’t so great either. So thank you for the great ideas! I’ll be trying a couple of them.
We tried the PVC pipe feeder idea and found it did not reduce waste……instead, my husband built a trough – and that works really well – considerably less waste than we had with the PVC feeder. We made it 2 feet long and 8″ wide so the birds could all stand around it and eat out of it at the same time…….except for the occasional hen who feels she needs to stand in it while she eats – it works pretty well for us!
We used a length of pvc gutter can as a feeder and mounted it to the wall. We put bricks underneath because we knew the birds would walk on it. It worked like a charm!
Am i the only one here who is raising chicken that doesn’t leave a single gram of waste on the ground??
