Build This Cozy Cabin For Under $6000

log-cabin-plan-new1

How does $4000 $6,000 sound like as budget for raising a home? Even if you imagine a small crammed place, the cabin you see here fits into that price range, from start to amazing finish. The basic A-frame old cabin is 14 feet by 20 feet and may seem like ordinary from the outside, the inside can be spacious and brightly attractive. Surely, the interior design is a task left to each owner in part, but the construction phase is something you can take advice from someone who has did the exact same thing. You will have to take it slowly, following the steps from a normal building, starting with the foundation, placing the rough floor and then raising the walls and so forth and so on. Find the full list of materials on this next website, detailed with every cost involved, as well as the entire construction story.

Anyone with basic carpentry skills can construct this classic one-room cabin for $4000   $6000. Ok, with all utilities included and depending on your preference the price will be higher. Steve show us the prices that includes the frame, rough floors and shingled roof, but not windows, doors and exterior siding.

  19. Pragmaticus says:

Interesting. Includes rough floors, but not windows, doors or exterior siding.

Also looks like it doesn’t include electrical or plumbing. Looks like it does not include interior finishing (walls). Not to mention paint.

Needless to say, does not include appliances or light fixtures.

    Oh – and land.

Add on those little “extras”, and pretty soon, you’ll have a $30K house for about $35K – just like any other very small house!!!

    • Jonathan McCowan. says:

I believe this article is in the assumption you already have land, and these are mostly building cost. Most people would expect to spend extra on appliances, unless they cook on a campfire and sleep on rag blankets.

Awesome, I am planning a 400 sq foot mobile home, with loft. It will have the best quality, but small and mobile if need be. We all waste so much space, to heat, to clean, etc. I feel we can still have the best features, cathedral ceiling, trapaziod windows, copper sinks, hardwood floors, granite counter tops, etc within 400 sq feet. Hot Tub outside, sceened in deck outside. Let’s share some plans.

  30. ken says:

  38. Steve Maxwell says:

    Hi Folks.

I’ve updated the pricing for this guide at my website http://ow.ly/KKaYO – The $4000 figure is almost a decade old and is going to be difficult to hit without getting most of your materials for free, or using substandard materials – neither of these is a good option.

Matt at Danforth Lumber in Toronto helped me to pull together the current price sheet to go with this sturdy little shell which I’ve attached at the link below.

Check out my article on this whole story at http://ow.ly/KKaYO

    Bye for now,

    Steve Maxwell
